Choosing a heavy-duty truck in today’s market is no small feat, especially with price tags climbing into the six-figure range. Here at Mark Martin Motors, we see a lot of high-end rigs roll through our neck of the woods in Ephrata, but the 2025 Ford F350 Platinum with the Tremor package is one that always starts a conversation.
Whether you are hauling equipment through Lancaster County or headed upstate for the weekend, this truck has some serious high points and a few quirks that might make you think twice. Let’s break down the hits and misses of this absolute unit.
What Makes the F350 Tremor a Beast?
There is no denying that Ford knows how to build a powerhouse. The Tremor package adds a layer of capability that transforms the Platinum from a luxury cruiser into a legitimate off-road contender.
1. That High Output Diesel Engine
The crown jewel of this truck is the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke diesel. We are talking about 500 horsepower and a staggering 1,200 lb-ft of torque. It is currently best-in-class, beating out every other manufacturer on the market. If you want the top-of-the-line truck with the top-of-the-line motor, this is the gold standard.
2. Sleek and Functional Power Running Boards
Sometimes it is the little things that make a daily driver better. The power running boards on the F350 are slim and tuck away so tightly you can barely see them. They remind us of the high-end aftermarket AMP Research boards. They are functional without being chunky or ruining the lines of the truck, which is something GM and Ram haven't quite mastered yet.
3. The Versatility of the Tremor Package
One of the best moves Ford made was making the Tremor package an option across multiple trim levels. You don't have to buy a Platinum to get it; you can add it to an XLT or a Lariat. For about $4,500, you get two inches of ground clearance, 35-inch tires, locking differentials, and off-road tuned suspension. It actually rides noticeably better than a standard F350.
4. The Factory Blackout Look
If you have ever bought a high-end truck like a Denali Ultimate, you know the first thing most guys want to do is spend thousands at a body shop to "de-chrome" it. This F350 Platinum comes from the factory with a true blackout look. Between the painted bumpers and minimal chrome accents, it looks custom right off the lot without the extra invoice from a wrap shop.
5. Tech That Actually Helps: Onboard Scales
Ford is currently leading the pack when it comes to useful truck tech. The onboard scales are a game changer. You can look at your screen and see exactly how much weight is in the bed. Whether it is 150 lbs of Lancaster snow or a full payload of stone, the truck tells you exactly where you stand against your 4,200 lb capacity.
Where the 2025 F350 Misses the Mark
No truck is perfect, and when you are spending this kind of money, it is okay to be picky. There are a few areas where Ford has stayed a little too stagnant.
1. The Massaging Seats Need an Update
Ford has been using essentially the same massage function since 2017. While it is nice to have both back and bottom rollers, it feels a bit like a bubble moving around behind you. Compared to the more granular, deep-tissue feel of the newer GM massaging seats, Ford is starting to feel a bit dated in the luxury department.
2. A Heavy-Duty Price Tag
There is no way around it: $103,000 for a pickup truck is a lot of money. To put that in perspective, a comparable GMC 3500 Denali Ultimate usually sits in the high $90s. You are paying a premium for that Ford badge and the High Output motor, and while trucks probably aren't getting cheaper any time soon, it still stings to see an MSRP cross that six-figure line.
3. The Solid Front Axle vs. Highway Comfort
Ford sticks with a straight axle up front, which is fantastic for durability and heavy-duty off-roading. However, it can’t compete with the independent front suspension found on GM trucks when it comes to highway manners. At 70 or 80 mph, especially while towing, this truck requires two hands on the wheel. It’s a workhorse, but it isn't as relaxing to drive long distances as some of its competitors.
4. Too Much Plastic in the Front End
For a truck that costs over $100k, we’d love to see more premium materials on the exterior. The front end has a lot of "plasticky" bits that feel a little cheap to the touch. It looks great on the Tremor because of the stance and the lift, but the actual material quality of the grille and trim could definitely be stepped up to match the luxury of the interior.
5. Why Not Better Shocks from the Factory?
While the Tremor shocks are an "upgrade," they aren't exactly revolutionary. When you look at what Chevrolet is doing with Multimatic DSSV shocks on their off-road trims, Ford feels like they are leaving something on the table. Most owners end up swapping for aftermarket leveled suspension anyway; it would be great to see Ford offer a high-end reservoir shock straight from the factory.
Final Thoughts
The 2025 Ford F350 Platinum Tremor is an absolute powerhouse that looks incredible and pulls harder than anything else in its class. It has the tech and the torque to handle anything Pennsylvania throws at it, even if the price and the highway manners require a bit of a compromise.
