Finding the exact used vehicle a customer wants can be a challenge, especially when they have a very particular list of criteria. At Mark Martin Motors, we thrive on that challenge.

Recently, I was tasked with finding a specific SUV for a customer: a 2022 or newer Jeep Wagoneer. It had to be white, and it absolutely had to be under $56,000 out-the-door.

I located the perfect candidate at the Manheim, Pennsylvania auto auction and secured it last Friday. It fit the budget and the specs, but it was a bit of a "plain Jane" base model. Fortunately, the budget allowed us room to perform some strategic upgrades to turn this basic Wagoneer into the customer’s dream ride.

Here is a look at the process of sourcing, servicing, and customizing this fantastic 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series III.

Why Choose a 2022 Wagoneer? The V8 Advantage

The vehicle we sourced is a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series III. While it didn't have a sunroof or every single top-tier option, it had something many Jeep enthusiasts prefer over the brand-new models: the engine.

The 2022 Wagoneer comes equipped with the legendary 5.7L Hemi V8 engine. Starting in 2023, Jeep switched over to a six-cylinder turbo platform. For buyers who still want that big, naturally aspirated V8 power and sound in a full-size SUV, hunting down a clean 2022 model is the way to go.

The "Before" Condition: A Blank Canvas

When I pulled the Wagoneer out of the Manheim auction lot, it was in solid shape structurally but definitely needed some love.

It was sitting on basic 20-inch wheels that were scuffed and curbed, and the tires were weak. The interior had typical wear, including scuffs on seatbacks and significant damage to a rear plastic trim piece in the cargo area. A replacement for that trim piece alone was priced around $1,400 for parts and labor.

We saw this vehicle not just for what it was, but for what it could be with the right touches.

The Transformation: Custom Wheels, Tint, and Repairs

We brought the Wagoneer back to the shop and went to work to ensure it was mechanically sound and aesthetically stunning for the customer.

1. The Wheel Upgrade

The most drastic change came from swapping out the scuffed stock wheels. We installed a set of black 22-inch Ram 1500 wheels wrapped in brand-new tires. Interestingly, Ram 1500 wheels share the same 6-lug bolt pattern as the Wagoneer (and GM/Chevy 1500s), making them a perfect fit.

The black 22s against the white paint completely changed the attitude of the truck, making the white paint truly "pop."

2. Interior Protection and Repair

To protect the interior, we installed a full set of Jeep/Grand Wagoneer all-weather floor mats throughout the vehicle.

We also had our interior specialist address the damage in the cargo area. Rather than replacing the entire costly panel, he performed an impressive repair on the plastic trim, making the damage virtually invisible.

3. The Final Touches

To complete the look and add comfort, we had the front windows tinted with high-quality UV-blocking tint. Finally, the vehicle went through a full mechanical inspection—including an oil change and new brakes all around—followed by a complete professional detail inside and out.

The Final Result

The finished product is a stunning example of what we can do for our customers. We took a basic, auction-bought 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and transformed it into a custom, reliable, V8-powered SUV that fits the customer's budget perfectly. They have already taken delivery and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
